Apocalypse

“Apocalypse” is a work by Olivier Ledroit in ink and paint on cardboard. At its centre, a woman’s face with lowered eyelids is streaked with long black drips running from the forehead down to the lips. Around it opens a vast corolla of speckled petals, bristling with thorns and claws. At the top, a skull with open jaws sits beneath a blazing white light; below the face, a large beetle spreads its wings.

Rendered in black, white and every shade of grey, the composition has a striking presence: the precision of the line shows in each vein of the petals, each thorn, each highlight. Plant life, death and the human figure merge into a single vision, both fascinating and unsettling, in the fantastic vein that runs through the work of the author of Requiem Vampire Knight and The Black Moon Chronicles.

The original is on show at Flibustier Paris from 22 October to 22 November 2026.
