In this vibrant watercolour, Alexis Bacci stages a frantic chase beneath the gaze of a colossal threat. The image draws at once on Italian genre cinema and the unbridled colour of auteur comics.

A man in orange-tinted glasses and an anxious-looking young woman run hand in hand, their long coats flapping in the wind; their determination contrasts with the fear written on their faces. Above them looms an immense demonic mask, with narrowed eyes and a maw bristling with sharp teeth, which seems to emerge from the sky itself in a swirl of purple, pink and yellow.

In the background, the silhouettes of a city take shape: a tall spire recalling the Mole Antonelliana in Turin, a dome topped with a cross and a winged statue. On the ground, reflections dissolve into patches of vivid colour. Executed in inks and watercolour, the work plays on acid colours and spectacular blends; it will appeal to lovers of giallo, urban fantasy and experimental illustration.
